Student
Programs

Students are an integral part of the work we do at Innocence Canada. We are proud to facilitate a variety of opportunities for students across the country. Students working at Innocence Canada can expect to gain hands-on casework experience as well as benefit from specialized educational programming on wrongful convictions.

Articling

Each year we hire one articling student during the Law Society of Ontario’s Articling Recruitment process. The articling student works on case files alongside the legal team. They conduct reviews, research legal issues, review and summarize transcripts, and when possible, assist in the drafting of a s.696.1 application.

The position is generously funded through the Law Foundation of Ontario Public Interest Articling Fellowship Program. Application information will be available in May.

Summer

Every summer, we work with law students who are passionate about social justice and wrongful conviction advocacy. Summer students work on educational initiatives and programming, as well as case related assignments such as research, disclosure review and transcript summaries.

Application information will be available at beginning of the winter semester.

Fall/Winter

We host a variety of programs throughout the academic year through partnerships with Pro Bono Students Canada and law schools. Check with your school to learn what opportunities are available.
